What Is CAD2xRP Technology?
In simplest terms, it is a unique method of implementing several data handling
techniques including data replication and data warehousing within a true client-server
environment.
- It is an engineering-oriented technology that reestablishes the natural flow of
information from its source (Design Engineering) into the rest of the manufacturing
enterprise.
- It is the distilled core of current technology for integrating data between
Computer Aided Design systems (CAD) and Computer Integrated Production Management Systems
(MRP, MRP-II, or ERP).
What Does CAD2xRP Technology
Do?
As the name implies, it integrates data from any
Computer Aided Design [CAD] system to [2] any Resource Planning "RP" system [xRP].
- It implements data replication and data warehousing in a manner to optimize LAN
communications, which reduces demand on the MRP/ERP database (usually already
over-burdened).
- It enables client-server communications between both CAD workstations and MRP/ERP
workstations via a specialized relational database, the xRP Warehouse, where analytical
processing integrates data between the two environments.
- It keeps units of measure, abbreviations, etc. consistent within each environment
(environmental integrity), so users always see information in its correct and most useful
form.
- It lets designers assign part numbers and part descriptions at their workstations
in a matter of seconds.
- It eliminates redundant data entry by providing data in drop-down
lists--once a unit of data is entered anywhere in the system, it becomes available in its
original form with a click of the mouse.
Best of all, with only a handful of simple, user-friendly commands, it works
seamlessly from within a CAD application.
